Hi. An award-winning design leader here, with over 18 years of experience in the creative industry. Much of my creative energy has been put toward crafting digital brands and products that are clear, authentically customer-centric, and fundamentally focused on 'experience design.'
Ten years after founding an award-winning brand design studio responsible for launching more than 50 go-to-market campaigns and platforms, I built creative teams for Microsoft, Amazon, Facebook, and others, with work on brand, platform, and marketing at each stop.
With backgrounds in studio arts, business development, and nonprofit policy and outreach, I help companies find the style, confidence, clarity, and direction they need to bring more worthwhile and dynamic products to the market. I've had a real time of it building scalable design teams that can deliver holistic, fabulous, brand-driven experiences.
I design experiences founded on systems, and systems built around experience — balancing design thinking with a search for desire paths. I've designed and have built effective design teams energized by an obsession with the question of responsibility in product, brand, and technological design.
By the by, I've served on the board of AIGA Seattle; was the first Creative Director of Microsoft's Office of Responsible AI; designed partnership programs for Facebook's Creative Shop; helped develop Amazon Go's visual barcode system; played at cryptography for US Naval Intelligence; was many months happily at sea as an oceanographer for N.A.S.A.; ran the single best bookstore either of us have ever heard of; and helped found and bring to national market and rapturous press a granola company with my eventual and decidedly brilliant wife. It's been a journey.
